NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday, July 23, issued an orange alert as heavy rains lashed Delhi-NCR and the temperature fell to 28 degree Celsius. The weather department forecasted light to moderate rain/thundershowers over northwest and extreme north Delhi and adjoining cities of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
In Delhi and nearby areas, it has been raining for the last two days on an irregular basis. On Sunday, July 19, as heavy rains lashed the city, at least four people were reported dead. Low-lying areas and streets were flooded and the traffic on important road stretches was halted.
The IMD predicts that till Saturday, July 25, the sky would normally be cloudy with light rains. The minimum and maximum temperatures would range between 23 and 35 degree Celsius in the capital.
