INDORE: The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has directed building officers in Indore to fine anyone found dumping construction/demolition waste at any non-designated or open spaces in the city an amount of Rs 5000, a municipal official reported on Sunday, July 25.
For disposal of waste, people are advised to consult the civic administration of the area via their mobile app ‘Indore 311’. Asad Warsi, Advisor to IMC for Centre’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, stated that interlocking tiles and other materials for construction are being manufactured by processing demolition/ construction waste. “These materials are being processed and manufactured at a plant located in the city, which has the capacity of processing 100 tonnes of construction waste per day. The manufacturing capacity of the plant has increased by 500 tonnes per day amidst the rise in construction activities in the city,” Warsi said. Due to this tile manufacturing plant, various building activities around the city have been dumping construction-related waste irresponsibly. The IMC’s fine has been mandated in order to encourage people to dispose of waste properly, without harming the environment.
