INDORE, Madhya Pradesh: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), which has been experiencing financial crunch, is aiming to raise nearly ₹45cr through National Lok Adalat, for which the civic body will be offering a 100 per cent rebate on surcharge on clearing pending property and water tax.
Under the Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act of 1956, a 100 per cent rebate on surcharge has been offered on clearing property tax dues of up to ₹50,000, a 50 per cent rebate on an amount ranging between ₹50,000 to one lakh and a 25 per cent rebate on clearing tax and surcharge above the one lakh mark.
When it comes to water tax, a 100 per cent rebate on surcharge is being offered to clear an amount of up to ₹10,000, a 75 per cent rebate on an amount up to ₹50,000 and 50 per cent on water tax and surcharge above ₹50,000, informed IMC officials.
Speaking about the issue, Abhilash Mishra, Additional Commissioner, IMC, said, “National Lok Adalat will be organised at IMC headquarters and all the zone offices,” while allowing to clear the dues in two equal instalments.
Mishra added, “So far in this financial year, we have generated around ₹350 crore of revenue through property tax, water tax, rent of properties including shops in IMC-owned markets and other fees. Efforts are on to cross the mark of ₹750 crore by March 31”.
Mishra also informed that an auto-generated SMS has been sent to all concerned property and water tax account holders to clear their dues to get a 100 per cent rebate.
