NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi (IIT-D) and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on issues of water security in Delhi. It aims to identify research initiatives in the areas of water supply and distribution, wastewater conveyance, treatment, recycle, reuse and disposal.
Through this collaboration, both the organisations hope to work on policy measures and best practices for waste water treatment and recycling to achieve zero waste discharge into drains and river bodies.
Both IIT-D and DJB will develop a knowledge sharing platform to disseminate alternative and sustainable methods for wastewater treatment for NCT of Delhi. They also aim to develop Smart Operation and Management framework for DJB’s water infrastructure.
Some other areas of work include developing effective and efficient strategies for management, improvement and rehabilitation of DJB’s Water Distribution and Wastewater Conveyance Systems, creating training modules for officers of DJB, etc.
