BENGALURU: Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) has again topped the ‘India Rankings 2021’, released by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, on Thursday, September 9, for the third time in a row. Karnataka has improved its performance with one Mangaluru and two Bengaluru colleges making to it to the list of top 100 colleges.
This was the sixth edition of Indian rankings conducted by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by Ministry of Education which ranks higher education institutions in 11 categories. IIT-M has retained the top position in ‘engineering’ and ‘overall’ category. Among the universities section, Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) has been awarded top position followed by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
Miranda College, Delhi university, has secured the top spot in the ‘college’ category and Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Udupi, topped the list of ‘dental’ colleges. Five premier IIT institutes are included in top 5 research institutes of 2021, which is a newly included category in NIRF. IISc Banglore has been awarded the top spot.
Tamil Nadu has 19 institutions in top 100 universities, followed by Maharashtra with 12, and Karnataka with 10.
