HUBBALLI: Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India, inaugurated the Hubbali-Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) project in Karnataka. The project has been in the work for the past seven years and will ensure a better public transport option for people and ultimately encourage the people to prevent using their own vehicles.
The project is developed by Hubballi-Dharwad BRTS Company Limited (HDBRTSCO) and connects the cities of Hubballi and Dharwad via 22.25 km BRTS corridor. In its test run, the corridor already ferried over 1 lakh passengers between the twin cities.
The Vice President encouraged people to bring about a change in their view towards mass transportation rather than using private vehicles.
