PANIPAT: Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has issued a direction to the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) to frame an action plan which would map out noise pollution by identifying the noise pollution hotspots in the state of Haryana and devise a way to mitigate the same.

The direction comes as a follow up to a March 15 National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) order, asking the board to identify the cities with maximum noise pollution in the state. Regarding this, CPCB had installed sound pollution monitoring mechanism in seven metro cities. The CPCB conducted online monitoring of the cities where the mechanism was installed and identified 46 cities of Haryana where noise pollution levels exceeded 75 decibels and called for the state’s pollution to devise a method to mitigate these levels.

The central board has asked the HSPCB to submit a report of the action plan and get it executed by November 30. As for the mitigation plan, the deadline is December 31.
