NEW DELHI: Amit Shah, Minister for Cooperation, Government of India, on Sunday, August 5, inaugurated a 24×7 water supply project worth ₹75 crore in Manimajra, Chandigarh. The water supply project is part of the Smart City Mission. After this, Minister Shah said that one lakh people in Manimajra will get an uninterrupted water supply.
After inaugurating the project, Minister Shah addressed the gathering. With the help of this project, the settlement spread over 855 acres of land will get 24×7 water supply through a 22-kilometre-long new pipeline. He added that to ensure the availability of water, two huge reservoirs will be built.
Apart from that, the installation of smart metres will ensure that there are no leakages, and the cost of those leakages should not fall on the shoulders of consumers. Also, a VFD pump has been installed to maintain decent water pressure.
