SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh is to get its first ethno-botanical park in Una district for the purpose of conserving endangered species of flora in lower Shivalik Hills. The park will be developed by the Forest Department, Rural Development Department and Tourism Department, Government of Himachal Pradesh on a 26-hectare land of Androli unprotected forest area at Bangana in Una district.
Pegged at the budget of Rs 8 crores, the park will have about 150 rare species of plants. A nursery will also be made specially for the purpose of conserving and nurturing plant species found in the lower Shivaliks. The park will also be a tourist attraction and will have a laser area, night garden and butterfly park, while the greenhouse and Ayurveda Garden will be botanical knowledge sharing centers.
A part of the garden will be dedicated to fostering the visits of seasonal migratory birds. There will also be seating areas for visitors and signages for plant species and trees.
Additionally, rainwater harvesting structures will also be constructed under the Jal Bhandaran Scheme with a capacity of 8 to 10 lakh liters of water.
The park is slated to be completed by August, this year.
