SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh government allocated 780 MW Jangi-Thopan-Powari hydroelectric project in Kinnaur district to SJVN Limited on build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis for a period of 70 years.
Nand Lal Sharma, chairman and managing director of SJVN, assured that the company would complete the project on time. He said that the company would contribute significantly to the overall development of the project affected area.
He further said that the company is in process of implementing various projects, which are in different stages of development, which on completion would add an additional 4,018 MW of capacity. Projects with a potential of 1,572 MW generation capacity are under construction, 1,848 MW is in the pre-construction phase and investment approval and, 598 MW capacity is in the investigation stage.
Earlier, SJVN had implemented 1500MW Nathpa Jhakri hydropower station in Himachal Pradesh. The company is executing hydro projects in Nepal, Bhutan and Uttarakhand.
