Heavy rainfall alert looming over western coast as Cyclone Maha approaches

NEW DELHI: After the Cyclone Kyarr waived off, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) have alarmed Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep to prepare themselves for Cyclone Maha. IMD has predicted rough sea conditions with waves that can reach the height of 13-20 feet over South-East Arabian Sea and adjoining Comorin-Lakshadweep-Maldives area and along the South Karnataka coast and Kerala.

As per a press release issued by the meteorological department, it warned heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours and has issued an orange alert in four districts of the state namely – Malappuram, Kozhikode Ernakulam and Thrissur.

A meeting of National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), chaired by Rajiv Gauba, Cabinet Secretary, was held to review the preparations for the Cyclone MAHA over the Comorin and adjoining Lakshadweep Islands yesterday tweeted All India Radio News.
