NEW DELHI: Dr Harsh Vardhan, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has been appointed as the chairperson of the international body Stop TB Partnership Board. He was nominated on account of his exceptional engagement in the movement to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) from India by 2025. Dr Vardhan will serve a three-year term, starting from July 2021.
The Stop TB Partnership is an exclusive international body with the ability to orient actors worldwide in the battle against TB. The engagement of a large assortment of constituencies gives this multinational body the authority and the extensive variety of medical, social and financial proficiency necessary to crush TB. The Partnership’s objective is a TB-free world.
The appointment of Dr Vardhan as the Chair of this esteemed international body is a proud acknowledgement of India’s political engagement to the elimination of TB. Set up in 2000, the Stop TB Partnership is deputed to eradicate TB as a public health problem.
