Dr NK Gupta, Medical Health Officer said that seven new cases of Jaundice had surfaced on May 18, alone and fresh cases were being reported from the university’s hospital as well as private hospitals on a daily basis. Also, authorities are fearing that the number of cases are higher than reported. He said that the first case was reported in February and more cases are emerging regularly.

As many as 74 cases had been reported in the private university’s hospital, while 27 had been reported in other hospitals. Though the report of the latest water samples lifted from the university has been cleared by the National Virology Lab at Pune, the number of jaundice cases were rising as the incubation period of jaundice is about 28 days, said Dr Gupta.
