NOIDA: The work of HCL Technologies, a global technology company, has been recognized for their efforts at alleviating urban poverty. It has won the sub-category of Slum Area Development of the National CSR Award 2020 instituted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. The annual National Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards were established by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, to honor businesses that have improved society via their creative & sustainable CSR activities.
The Government of India identifies Slum Area Development as national priority area. HCL Uday, the foundation’s flagship initiative, gives poor people living in urban slums and on the streets, including migrant workers and working children, full support. To support the equitable development of these communities, it offers access to education for kids, training for jobs that pay well, basic healthcare and sanitation services, clean water sources, and more. Over 560,000 beneficiaries have been benefited by the initiative so far across 11 Indian cities.
As a volunteer-driven project that began in 2012, HCL Uday was established and publicly launched in 2016. It was envisioned as a continuous, ongoing programme with a variety of ground-level interventions and initiatives.
