NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court sought the report in two weeks from the Expert Committee for proper disposal of the litter of mountains in Bhalswa, Okhla, and Ghazipur in Delhi on 16 July. The committee will discuss the measures discussed in the successful disposal of waste in the country and abroad, discussing with institutions and experienced people.

The expert committee will also give its report to the ASG Pinky Anand so that they can get approval from the Lt Governor. Delhi Lieutenant Anil Baijal, who is facing criticism on the issue of garbage management, told the Supreme Court that he is regularly monitoring the situation on three landfill sites in the city and are trying to solve the problem.

Taking cognizance of the news of the death of 60 thousand people due to pollution, the Supreme Court said on Monday that the life of the people is more important than the industries settlement. The apex court made this comment during a hearing on the PIL filed for prevention of air pollution in Delhi-NCR.

The bench expressed resentment after seeing the photographs of the work done on Landfill sites and said that it seems that the soil is scattered around it. The court asked Justice Kumar Colin Gonzawalis to seek a report or alternative plan for disposal of garbage in Delhi.
