NEW DELHI: Delhi High Court, in one of its directives to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), stressed the “need to protect green areas.” High Court in its statement asked DDA to not destroy the natural grass at Siri Fort Sports Complex (SFSC).
DDA has been planning to replace the natural grass in SFSC with artificial turf. Justice Najmi Waziri has asked DDA to not pursue this plan.
High Court’s directives came in response to a PIL filed by Sudhir Gupta, a permanent SFSC member. He filed PIL when a tender was floated to replace the manicured natural grass with artificial turf on the complex’s hockey and football grounds.
