Haryana to merge and re-organise Administrative Departments

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has decided to merge and re-organise Administrative Departments having similar work to improve efficiency and synergise functioning. Under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar, the state cabinet has approved the proposal regarding the same. 

As per the decision, the Department of New and Renewable Energy will be merged with the Power Department and be named as the ‘Department of Energy.’ Similarly, the Social Justice and Empowerment Department will be merged with the Department of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes and will be known as ‘Department of Social Justice, Empowerment, Welfare of SCs and BCs and Antyodaya.’

As per the official statement, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology will also be merged with the Industries and Commerce Department. The Department of Higher Education, Technical Education, and Science and Technology will now come under the Department of Higher Education.

Likewise, the Forests and Wildlife Department and the Department of Environment and Climate Change will be merged under the Department of Environment, Forests, and Wildlife. The art and Culture Department is being combined with Information, Public Relations and Languages Department and renamed as Information, Public Relations, Languages and Culture Department. Youth Affairs Component of the Sports Department will be merged with the Skill Development and Industrial Training Department and Employment Department and has been renamed as the Department of Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship.

The Department of Administrative Reforms and the Monitoring and Coordination Department are merged into the Department of General Administration as well as the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management and the Department of Consolidation have been merged and renamed as Revenue and Disaster Management Department. The Directorate of Fire Services, Fire Safety will come under the same department, and not under the Urban Local Bodies.
