CHANDIGARH: Haryana Government has ordered a detailed mapping of all sports stadia established in an area greater than 4 acres. The instruction was given to the Sports and Youth Affairs Department over a meeting held, with the Chief Minister presiding, to review the performance and progress of 10 departments – Higher Education, Technical Education, Labour, Development and Panchayats, Irrigation, Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB), Urban Local Bodies and Sports and Youth Affairs in Chandigarh on June 11.
The government wants to ensure that a robust infrastructure is provided from the grassroots level to the aspiring athletes of the state. Alongside the improvement of the stadiums, the government plans to provide athletes with more modern sports equipment and better coaching.
Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister, said that robust sports infrastructure would enable the athletes to win medals at the national and international events.
Also discussed during the meeting was the state’s preparedness for natural calamities. It was also decided that the meeting of Haryana State Drought Relief and Flood Control Board would be held under the Chief Minister on June 13 to review the preparedness in all districts of the State and to take preventive measures to meet any eventuality of drought or flood like situations.
