HARYANA: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has unveiled the schedule for the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. To ensure a smoother voting process in urban areas, polling stations will be established within high-rise apartment complexes in cities such as Gurugram, Faridabad, and others.

Haryana, which has 90 assembly seats and over two crore registered voters, will hold its elections on October 1, 2024, with results expected to be announced on October 4, 2024.

Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced, “Polling stations will be set up in multi-storey housing societies in Gurugram, Faridabad, and Sonipat. This initiative is intended to address urban voter apathy.”

This strategy is designed to streamline the voting process and potentially boost voter turnout among residents of apartment complexes and multi-storey buildings.

Haryana’s 90 assembly constituencies include 73 general, and 17 SC. The state will have a total of 2.01 crore voters, comprising 1.06 crore males, 0.95 crore females, 4.52 lakh first-time voters, and 40.95 lakh young voters. The electoral roll for Haryana will be published on August 27, 2024, according to Kumar.
