CHANDIGARH: The results of civic body held in some parts of Haryana have rung alarming bells for the Dushyant Chautala, Deputy Chief Minister-led Jananayak Janata Party (JJP). It emerged as kingmaker in October 2019 and formed an allied government led by Manohar Lal Khattar of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).
JJP has lost in both Uklana and Dharuhera, where its candidates contested for the post of Municipal Committee chairperson. The party could win only one seat in Panchkula, where it was given four of twenty seats to contest in the polls. The accomplishment of its coalition partner, BJP, which is also struggling with the farmers’ agitation, was slightly better and it managed to win mayoral post in Panchkula and the chairmanship of Rewari Municipal Council.
