NEW DELHI: Haryana is obstructing clean water to flow into the Yamuna. The Delhi High Court rebuked Haryana Government for reconsidering its commitment to ensure clean water flow in the Yamuna for Delhi, and demanded clarification from the state.
On January 29, 2019, the Delhi government in a plea to the Delhi High Court claimed that if immediate steps have not been taken to measure the situation this will adversely affect the supply of water in central Delhi including the Lutyens zone.
A bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V K Rao issued notice to Haryana government and directed the Principal Secretary of its water department to reply to the allegations made by the Delhi government, that obstacles have been created at key entry point of the river flow into Delhi.
The court asked the Haryana government to submit its response on the application by the Water Board, DJB of the Delhi Government and listed the matter for further hearing on February 5.
