NEW DELHI: The Government of India on May 20, appointed 1998 batch IAS officer Gyanesh Bharti as the new commissioner of the newly unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The information was released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The Centre has appointed 1992 batch IAS officer Ashwani Kumar as the special officer in the unified MCD. According to the rules, he will take over the role of elected councilors and municipal committees till the fresh civic polls are held. As per the notification, the unified MCD will come into effect from Sunday, May 22.
