GUWAHATI: Commuters will now be able to travel from Guwahati to Dhaka using flights. The first international flight from Guwahati to Dhaka will be available from March 2019 for Rs 3000 per head. This is the first international flight under UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme that was launched by the Central government.
As per a government official, Assam is selected to connect two international cities which are Bangkok and Dhaka under UDAN International. “The file is already with the minister. We just need his go-ahead,” he added.
The state government is supposed to provide a subsidy of Rs 2,370 for the flight from Guwahati to Dhaka and Rs 4,400 for the flight from Guwahati to Bangkok for a certain number of seats.
Ministry of civil aviation has included seven international locations to connect India’s Tier -II and Tier- III cities under its UDAN international plan. These seven locations are Singapore, Dhaka, Yangon, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Kuala Lampur and Dubai.
The scheme UDAN was launched by the Centre for making air travel affordable for every Indian citizen.This will lead to boost national economic development, job growth, and air infrastructure development of India.
