GURUGRAM: Gurugram traffic police has partnered with Google Maps to provide information related to traffic congestions, planned road closures, diversions, traffic alerts regarding road crash etc. in real time for public use. The traffic police would be sharing traffic related information with Google Maps, who would be updating the information on their map immediately.
The mechanism has been tested out a number of time and generated satisfactory output, said a press statement issued by the police.
With this tie-up, the city traffic police aim to promote smarter decision making amongst commuters in order to avoid major traffic congestions that daily commuters experience in Gurugram.
Earlier, traffic police had to force people to take alternate routes whenever road closures occurred. But now, with people having access to information in real time, they can plan their travel judiciously.
