GURUGRAM: Uthaan, a Gurugram based NGO launched the city’s first ‘tree ambulance’ on Sunday, June 30. The ambulance would be tasked with the upkeep of the vegetation of the city. The NGO has been in association with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) on plantation drives and maintenance of green belts and has roped CSR for the funding of the newly inaugurated project.
“We will operate six days a week, of which five will involve field work and one will involve visiting residents’ welfare associations (RWAs) and societies,” said Sanjay Kaushik, the spokesperson of the NGO.
The ambulance is furnished with organic detergent sprinkling systems along with pesticide dispersing systems. The ambulance, which would be staffed with full-time employees, would also look after the maintenance of the hedges of the city. Operations were kicked off on June 30, at Bakhtawar Chowk and will cover all main roads in the city.
Residents can contact the ambulance via a helpline number for assistance for their local greenery, and also procure saplings of native herbs and vegetables.
