GURUGRAM: Good news for Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) as the corporation has recorded a 40 per cent increase in ridership between the months of July and November of 2019. This equates to 70,000 more people commuting via buses in the month of November and 50,000 in July. According to the officials, the success is owed to the increase citizen awareness campaigns in the city and improved frequency of buses on their routes. Arun Sharma, General Manager, GMCBL, has noted that the increase in ridership is constant as services have been improved significantly. The department has also marked increase in the number of travel cards in use, registering sale of 7233 smart cards for cashless commute since September of 2018.
