GURUGRAM: Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) will be working together to develop a district level plan catering to the environment of Gurugram. According to officials, the plan will lay out steps that will manage the district’s solid waste, water and sewage, air pollution etc. and would be submitted to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) by December 31. This planning is being carried out in compliance with a National Green Tribunal (NGT) order which directed every district administration in India to develop plans for their respective districts which would then be summed up to develop a State Environment Plan, which would be regulated by Chief Secretary of the State. Further, these state environment plans are to be compiled to prepare a National Environmental Plan, under CPCB and secretary of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF & CC).
For Gurugram, the management plans for air quality and noise pollution has been developed by the HSPCB, GMDA is tasked with preparation of water and sewage management plan, while MCG would prepare solid waste management plans.
