Gujarat HC sets up a task force for Sabarmati

AHMEDABAD: The bench of Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice VD Nanvati of the Gujarat High Court has directed setting up of a joint task force consisting of eight members to deal with the issue of pollution in Sabarmati.

There have been reports of improper discharge of trade effluents into the Sabarmati river from sewage treatment plants at Pirana, Ahmedabad. The task force has been formed to resolve this problem by stopping the illegal discharge and curb pollution in river. This force will be led by Prasoon Gargava, Regional Director, Central Pollution Control Board, Vadodara, along with two officers each from Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Gujarat Pollution Control Board.
