AHMEDABAD: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani flagged a total of 101 BS-VI compliant buses in the state on Monday, May 10, officials said. Officials added that the Government of Gujarat has intended to add 1000 such buses to the fleet of public transport.

CM Rupani said during the video conferencing from Gandhinagar that these buses will enhance the public transport service across the 16 states transport divisions. He added that the state government will not allow the COVID-19 pandemic to affect the public transport services which are meant to provide comfort to residents in the state and are not seen as a source of profit.

CM Rupani said that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the travel and tourism sectors and has limited the availability of various modes of transportation but the state transport buses have continued to operate at 50 per cent of the capacity as per norms to provide relief.
