GANDHINAGAR: The Government of Gujarat is about to announce three new power policies to encourage power generation in the state. These will relate to wind power, hydel power and waste-to-energy power generation. These policies will most likely be announced towards the end of this month, since the existing policies will be ending in July.
Gujarat had to import expensive power given the nation-wide coal shortage and hopes overcome this crisis by incentivizing power generation. Kanu Desai Minister of Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals, Gujarat has confirmed that the government is finalizing the policies currently.
