NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, announced a new scheme to promote e-mobility in the country. This scheme, called the E-Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024 (EMPS 2024), will start in April 2024 and last for four months. It’s specifically for 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers.
While announcing the scheme, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of Heavy Industries, Government of India, mentioned that this initiative is worth ₹500 crore and that the Modi government is committed to promoting e-mobility in the country.
He further added that the scheme will be for four months and financial support of up to ₹10,000 per 2-wheeler will be provided. The aim is to provide support for about 3.3 lakh 2-wheelers.
Small three-wheelers (e-rickshaws and e-carts) will receive financial support of up to ₹25,000, benefitting more than 41,000 such vehicles. For large three-wheelers, financial support will be up to ₹50,000 on purchase.
