Govt announces EMPS 2024 scheme to promote e-mobility

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, announced a new scheme to promote e-mobility in the country. This scheme, called the E-Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024 (EMPS 2024), will start in April 2024 and will last for four months. It's specifically for 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers. While announcing the scheme, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of Heavy Industries, Government of India, mentioned that this initiative is worth Rs 500 crore and that the Modi government is committed to promoting e-mobility in the country. He further added that the scheme will be for four months and financial support of up to Rs 10,000 per 2- 2-wheeler will be provided. The aim is to provide support for about 3.3 lakh 2-wheelers. Small three-wheelers (e-rickshaws and e-carts) will receive financial support of up to Rs 25,000, benefitting more than 41,000 such vehicles. For large three-wheelers, financial support will be up to Rs 50,000 on purchase.
