Govt adopts “Save Shillong’s Rivers” to mark Environment Day

SHILLONG, Meghalaya: The Government of Meghalaya celebrated World Environment Day by adopting the theme- “Save Shillong’s Rivers”-in recognition of a pertinent local problem. Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Congrad K Sangma also called on each person to feel a sense of ownership for tree protection through the slogan “One citizen, one tree.” Conrad announced that each household will be given the provision to install solar units under the Chief Minister’s Solar Mission which is to be launched on June7, 2023. “This will help address the power problem in the state. The solar units will also provide the facility for households to send unused power to the main grid,” he said.
