NEW DELHI: Google on Monday, July 13, announced partnership with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to offer digital learning modules across schools in India. During the ‘Google for India 2020’ virtual event, Sapna Chadha, Senior Country Marketing Director (India and South-east Asia), Google, said the company will collaborate with 1 million teachers from 22,000 CBSE schools across the country by the end of December. She explained that by collaborating with CBSE Skill Education and Training, they will enable the teachers to deliver blended learning using free tools like G Suite for Education, Google Classroom, YouTube and more.

It was also announced that the Kaivalya Education Foundation (KEF) would receive a $1 million grant from Google.org for households of lower income. This fund will be used over the next year to empower over 700,000 teachers to educate them in the interactive education environment so that students can begin to learn from home.

At the event, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India, explained that the free-of-cost tools offered by Google, in partnership with CBSE, will be beneficial for teachers across India. He added that Google should also put efforts to ensure that the tools and content services are available across the 22 Indian languages so that students across the country can benefit.
