PANAJI: The Government of Goa on Monday, May 11, cleared a new COVID-19 protocol recommending the use of Ivermectin drug to all the residents above the age of 18. The state government recommended to take 5 tablets of the drug in order to prevent steep and fatal viral fever which accompanies the SARS-CoV-2.
Vishwajit Rane, Minister of Health, Government of Goa, said that the Ivermectin drug will be available at all the health centres in the state and it should be used by all the residents, irrespective of whether they have COVID-19 symptoms or not. He added that the authorities are giving this prophylaxis treatment as a preventive measure to all those above the age of 18 at all the health centres in the state.
After a meeting with top health officials and Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Rane said that the patients will be given the Ivermectin 12 mg for a period of five days. He added that the experts panel from the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and Japan found significant reduction in mortality rate, recovery time and viral clearance in the patients suffering from the COVID-19 infection and treated with Ivermectin.
The anti-parasitic Ivermectin is being flourished as the miracle drug to cure COVID-19 infection by doctors and campaigners around the world. A group of medical and scientific experts led by frontline COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), reviewed the studies, manuscripts, expert meta-analysis and epidemiological analysis of those regions with Ivermectin distribution efforts and found that it is an effective prophylaxis treatment for COVID-19 infection.
South Africa, Zimbabwe, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Mexico and India have approved the use of Ivermectin by medical professionals.
