GURUGRAM: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) inspects Gurugram city way ahead of monsoon to check waterlogging and flooding, common during the monsoon season. A meeting was held earlier this week, where it was decided that a Flood Control Office will be set up to monitor waterlogging in the city. The locations where maximum waterlogging is reported included Service road stretch at Narsinghpur NH-48, Mini Secretariat, Hero Honda Chowk and Golf Course Road.
The Flood Control Office will comprise of officers from GMDA and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, and will be set up in June for a period of three months, to review the situation and resolve complaints. One of the major issues faced by the residents is water accumulation at the service road in Narsinghpur along the Delhi-Jaipur highway. A high-power pump will be added and sumps for collecting water will be created. However, these will only be temporary until a master drainage is built along the Cloverleaf highway.
Other precautionary measures are also underway across town, like making ‘kacha naala’ and widening of roads.
