GURUGRAM, Haryana: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) have agreed to collaborate in addressing the concerns regarding drainage management, sewerage system, and potable water supply in the city, following heavy rainfall during the monsoon season.
Narhari Singh Banger, MCG Commissioner, convened a meeting to assess drainage systems with GMDA, MCG officers, and engineers. Banger expressed that if other departments require manpower, equipment, and resources to handle drainage issues during the monsoon, they will be promptly provided. He also stressed that executive engineers should ensure that pumps, equipment, and personnel are kept in reserve at the closest stations.
He also directed assistant engineers and junior engineer-level officers to maintain a strong presence in the field.
He further recommended having additional sewer lids on hand to replace any that are damaged promptly. GMDA officials stated that all master drains and sewer lines under their authority have been cleared, and surface drains are regularly maintained. MCG officials reported that the construction of drains is moving quickly on the old Delhi Road and Basai Gadhi Road. The Commissioner urged them to allocate more manpower and machinery to ensure speedy completion of the work.
The MCG officials have mentioned that they have adequate manpower and machinery for quick water drainage from all waterlogged areas, including 62 suction tankers, 61 tractor-mounted pumps, 25 diesel engines, and proper personnel.
Banger mentioned that 24-hour helpline numbers are operational to ensure prompt resolution of complaints, including those related to waterlogging during the monsoon.
