HYDERABAD: DS Lokesh Kumar, Commissioner, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has directed officials to inspect the night shelters and provide full-fledged facilities to the homeless and the poor considering the onset of winters.
Lokesh Kumar, while addressing a video conference with zonal and deputy commissioners and medical officers from GHMC headquarters, said to shift homeless people to the shelter homes.
There are 15 shelter homes in Hyderabad, where more than 600 people have been accommodated. The Commissioner has asked the officials to convert various GHMC community halls to night shelters if required.
Commissioner also directed the officials to respond appropriately to prevent begging with help from the Police.
