HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has submitted a proposal to Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd (TS Redco) to set up 230 electric vehicle charging stations across the city. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) submitted a proposal seeking establishment of another 100 EV charging stations within their limits.
The GHMC officials informed that the organisation has signed an agreement with the TS Redco to set up EV charging stations at 14 different locations in the city. This will be done on an experimental basis to understand the revenue generated by them. Some of these places include Abids, Gunfoundry, GHMC sports complex in Nanakramguda, Indira Park, Metro Station parking in Uppal, Owaisi Hospital, etc. According to officials, each of these 14 locations will have both high-speed and low-speed charging facilities for EV.
The charging stations are to be set up according to the feasibility of locations. Moreover, petroleum corporations will also install charging stations according to their convenience. GHMC, in a statement, said that the Government of Telangana is giving top priority to encourage EV manufacturers to set up their units in Telangana.
