KOLKATA: Geocycle, waste management arm of Ambuja Cements, and ACC limited have been awarded the prestigious Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) 3R award under ‘Excellence in Managing Municipal Solid Waste’. According to the company statement, Geocycle had been taking up projects for collection and processing of segregated municipal solid waste.
Geocycle is recognised for its several initiatives to find sustainable solutions for waste generated from various industries, municipalities and local communities. This year, CII received a total of 101 applications including 77 from industry and start-ups whereas 24 from the municipal corporations.
Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director, Ambuja Cements Ltd, said that the company was honoured to be recognised by CII and it will stimulate the efforts of Geocycle towards sustainable and smart solutions. Geocycle has also partnered with the Agra Municipal Corporation for the pilot project of ‘Bubble Barrier’ to collect waste from Mantola Canal, Agra.
