Free Bus Service for Women in Latur, Maharashtra

LATUR: The Latur Municipal Corporation (LMC) has started a bus service for women, completely free of cost. The service was inaugurated by Amit Deshmukh, Member of Legislative Assembly, Maharashtra on March 18.

A smart card will be provided to women for travel in these buses. All the staff in the buses will be comprised of women as well as everyone working with this scheme will have to go through police verification. According to Deshmukh, this initiative will also benefit students who come to the city. He also directed the LMC to see whether this scheme can be made environment-friendly as well, by using alternative eco-friendly fuel and electricity.
