Four Pfizer vaccine volunteers developed facial paralysis

NEW DELHI: An immense concern, which has called in question the safety of the vaccine shots, has appeared when the United Kingdom started vaccinating people with Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. According to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA or USFDA) regulators, four volunteers who were vaccinated during the testing state have developed Bell’s palsy. Bell’s palsy is a medical condition which causes partial paralysis of the face. The drug regulator commented that it is unknown yet what led to the Bell’s palsy in the affected volunteers. Regulators have asked the doctors to constantly monitor side-effects of the vaccine.

Previously, Albert Bourla, the CEO of Pfizer, has cast doubts if the vaccine will help control the transmission of the infection. During an interview, when asked if vaccinated individuals can still transmit the virus on to other people, Bourla replied that he thinks that this is something that needs to be examined and the problems will show only with time.

A report on the subject pointed out that researchers have shown concern that the company has not examined in its testing how the vaccine affects the transmission of the virus.

The UK had recently become the first country to grant Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine a temporary use authorisation. On Wednesday, December 9, Britain’s regulator issued a warning for people with a history of allergy reactions to medicines, food or vaccines to not have the Pfizer vaccine.
