MUMBAI: To curb traffic caused by Mumbai’s illegal parking, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned disciplinary fines from June 7, for anyone parking their vehicle illegally.
The violators will have to pay a fine of Rs 15,000, which include towing charges, for parking within 500-meter radius of 26 authorised public parking lots. The fine amount will range from Rs 5,000 for two-wheelers to Rs 15,000 for heavy vehicles.
With a penalty for late imbursement, the fine could go up as much as Rs 23,250, according to BMC. For effective implementation of the scheme, the administration has hired former service members to support the traffic police.
