NEW DELHI: New Delhi implemented an emergency action plan on October 15, to fight ‘severe’ air pollution. The action plan includes several measures like sprinkling of water on the streets, prohibiting the use of diesel power generator sets and construction activity in Delhi, impounding of polluting vehicles, mechanised sweeping of roads, deploying traffic police for smooth flow of traffic at vulnerable points or even implemented odd-even scheme if condition worsens.
The Badarpur thermal power plant was shut down from October 15, 2018 as per the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to combat air pollution.
The Plan was implemented last year under which stringent actions were taken based on the air quality of the city.
