ELOOR, Kerala: Eloor municipality in Ernakulam, Kerala, has become the first municipality to have achieved 100 per cent user fee collection for inorganic waste collection from the residential properties and organisation functioning within the civic body limits. Cleanliness workers of the municipality have collected user fee from 8,319 households along with 568 organisations.
A D Sujil, Chairperson of the municipality, said, “We are the first local body in the district and the second in the state to achieve the feat.”
In March of this year, the local body generated about ₹7,75,000 by selling plastic waste collected from residential buildings. The chairperson thanked local body officials, especially the members of the Harita Karma Sena, for this achievement.
