NEW DELHI: Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has approved the issuance of pink tickets to female passengers which would allow them to travel in DTC and cluster buses free of charge. The scheme, which was approved by the DTC on September 23, has been rolled out till March 2020 and will be effective in the National Capital from October 29. The DTC has also given a go-ahead to procure 300 electric buses, said sources

Women travelling in DTC and cluster buses will be given pink tickets having face value of Rs 10 each. The government will then reimburse the transporter based on the number of such tickets issued, they added.

It is estimated that the Delhi government would be spending approximately Rs 140 crores on the implementation of the scheme. The Delhi Cabinet had given its nod to the free-ride scheme last month.
