NEW DELHI: Under the mid-day meal scheme, the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi has decided to provide dry ration to the students of government schools for a six-month period. At a dry ration distribution event at a government school in the Mandawali area on December 29, Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, mentioned that when the schools were closed, the government had decided to send the money for mid-day meals to the parents’ accounts, but now, it has been decided that they will give dry ration in adequate amount every month for six months, from January 2021 onwards.
All eligible students of Classes 1-8 in the Delhi government schools will be provided with dry ration kits containing wheat, rice, pulses and oil under the scheme. The move has come in view of the continued closure of schools since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kejriwal said that the government was starting ration distribution at the request of the parents of government school students.
