CHENNAI: In wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, S P Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development, and Implementation of Special Programme, Tamil Nadu has instructed the district administrations and city corporations of the state to begin door-to-door awareness campaigns covering every corner of the city. Velumani also informed that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned Rs 17 crore for relief work in the state. “Make sure all the ground-level staff has the adequate precautionary gear. Provide sanitizers to all of them and print awareness posters as much as possible,’’ the minister said.
For the protection of ground-level workers, 17,140 masks have been distributed across the state adminstrations. He has also directed the officials to keep cresol+soap solution at all public places, especially where movement is high. He also directed the officials to ensure places like parks, railway stations, bus terminals, busy roads, and platforms are sanitized multiple times a day.
The Chennai Corporation has also opened up its official twitter and Facebook handle for citizens to post their queries and doubts around COVID-19.
