NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) becomes the first metro rail system in the South Asian region to offer high-speed wifi services inside the metro coaches, said DMRC officials during the launch of the facility today, January 2. The high-speed wifi facility is launched for the DMRC’s Airport Express Line.
Mangu Singh, Chief, DMRC launched the service today in the running train on the Airport Express Line. The wifi service installed in the Airport Express Line will provide 2 Mbps of internet speed.
The wifi facility is already available in the stations on the Blue Line and the Airport Express line and the DMRC is planning to extend the services to Lines 1-6, officials added.
“At present underground metro train WiFi facility is available in Russia, South Korea and China. This is the first such facility in India and the South Asian region,” a senior DMRC official said.
