NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), on Wednesday, August 21, completed the construction of an 865-metre long tunnel between the Chhatarpur and Chhattarpur Mandir stations. Both stations lie on the under-construction stretch of the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor.

Vinai Kumar Saxena, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, and Kailash Gahlot, Minister for Road Transport, were present when the 97-metre-long tunnel boring machine made the breakthrough.

DMRC informed that it is constructing two parallel circular tunnels for up-and-down movement on this stretch. One of these tunnels has just been completed, and the other one will be completed by the end of September. This tunnel has been constructed at a depth of about 15 metres.
